The Ministry of Health is working on the development of primary health care centers in order to be ready to start the Privatization Programs for comprehensive rehabilitation centers, both in the private and the non-profit sectors

According to Sources quoted by the Saudi Arabian Newspaper “Al Watan”, the Ministry of Health is currently developing primary health care centers in all regions of the Kingdom in order to be ready to start the Privatization Programs.

The Newspaper’s sources added that the Ministry began linking all the centers to public and specialized hospitals affiliated to the Ministry in all regions and provinces.

The sources claimed that the Director General of Health Affairs in Riyadh, Dr. Nasser Faleh Al Dosari, issued an administrative decision approving the development plan related to linking all health centers to hospitals. The decision included the distribution of Riyadh city into six sectors: “Southwest, North, South, West, East and Center”, provided that all the health centers in the districts shall be linked to the 6 hospitals and medical cities located in Riyadh.

The Minister of Health, who also was the Chairman of the Supervisory Committee for the privatization of the health sector, Dr. Tawfiq Al Rabiah, has recently stated that the health sector has successfully passed through important stages during the last period regarding the Privatization Program.

According to the data available on “Arkam”, the Council of Economic Affairs and Development, chaired by Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince, Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Council, adopted, yesterday, the plan of implementation of the Privatization Program.

The Ministry of Health recently announced that it has completed the work of the integrated study to propose nine areas for the participation of the private sector, in accordance with the health sector Privatization Program, including: health centers, operation of hospitals and new medical cities, radiation, rehabilitation treatment, extended care, home care, laboratories, pharmacies and logistics.
